Cosplay Ramblings
For the first time, I can honestly say that there's nothing I really really want to do cosplay-wise. I have a list (see below) of things that would be cool to do, but nothing really grabs at me and says, "Spend all your money and time on me or else! RAAAAR!!"

I wonder if this is the beginning of the end?

I think it's pretty amazing I went this far, to tell the truth. I never anticipated meeting and befriending as many awesome people I have through this hobby (to say nothing of The Crazies, but there's The Crazies everywhere), and I never anticipated that it would allow me to participate in some really random, really crazy, but most of all really awesome experiences. And while I don't foresee myself dropping out of the "scene" entirely (there are too many of you who I need to keep tabs on, if for just "OMG, you made that?!" reactions alone), I don't know if I'll be participating as heavily as I was.

At first I thought it was just the inevitable burn-out. Everyone gets tired of things eventually, especially if you've participated in something pedal-to-the-metal for an extended period of time. But, even after the period of R&R, there's nothing out there that's really lighting a fire on my ass to want to create. I won't be attending any cons till after July for personal reasons, so that's probably putting a damper on any plans as well.

Anyway, obviously the next logical step would be to officially name my "retirement," have all of you plead and cajole me into staying in it so I can haughtily say that I'm "above all the drama, bullshit, waste of money & time" and leaving the hobby at "my prime."

...

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nah, but for reals, I really don't know where to go from here.

And while this isn't a life-altering decision, it does effect a rather sizable part of my life. Outside of music-related stuff, cosplay is my biggest hobby/time-suck. Anyway... don't mind me, I'm just brain dumping. :)

Now for the required "Costumes I Wanna Do" List (in no particular order):

Jessica - Dragon Quest VIIIJessica - Dragon Quest VIII
Okay, I just want an excuse to wear a corset that'll give me amazing cleavage. Shut up. :D
Paine - Kingdom Hearts 2 Paine - Kingdom Hearts 2
She gets wings! Seriously, how cute is that shit?
Paine (White Mage) - Final Fantasy X-2Paine (White Mage) - Final Fantasy X-2
Would entirely depend if my girls were up for doing another group with me.
Rabi - D.Gray-ManRabi - D.Gray-Man
I dig the waist purse action.
AYA (Doppelganger) - Psycho le CémuAYA (Doppelganger) - Psycho le Cému
That's AYA on the left.... because the world truly needs more scary clown things. Really.
Miranda - D.Gray-Man Miranda - D.Gray-Man
Hotness. Whether it would look hot on me is up for debate. I'm not trying to get myself compared to the hotness of Miss [info]wagashi!

Then of course there are the ideas that have been thrown around by my friends... Hard Gay & the HGettes (I would pronounce that "hegettes," and yes I just made that up), Gilgamesh tent action, Katamari Damacy, etc.

Of course, after I said all that I will tell you that there are two definites. I asked my parents to get a couple things made for me in the Philippines (Yo, did I tell y'all I dislike sewing? Well, now ya know! No shame in my game!) and they should be coming out to me soon:
Nana Osaki - NANA Nana Osaki - NANA
Did I just ask some folks in the Motherland to bootleg me a Vivienne Westwood jacket? Yes, yes I did. I'm not a very good Nana, but fuck it... it's one thing I can live with.
Yuu - Karma ShenjingYuu - Karma Shenjing
OMG l33t fandom points. Har har har. Photo yoinked from [info]ziggybecket.

And that's all I have to say about that. (Which was way more than I anticipated I was going to say.)

Yeah, man, FFIII FOR THE WIN! (Although, I think all the Amano artwork has tainted my brain because it doesn't look ver Setzer-ish to me... but you know, I'll take what I can get.)

And you know if I cosplay Jessica you'll be getting one of my Puff Puff's. HOLLER! LOL j/k

Agh. Dhoulmagus kicked my ass as triplets, then i came back and beat him, but then he turned into that big thing again and kickcked my ass. XO So I've been playing katamari more lately...

Ugh, Dhoulmagus was probably the hardest boss I've ever played against in any of the RPGs I've played. Motherfucker is annoying! Like a true nerd, I was all jumping around when I finally beat him. Good lord. LOL

that's a skurry, skurry clown-thing. I have 2 flyers for a band I think called "the pumpkin head," and (I assuming) the lead singer looks like a very evil clown.

random V.Westwood mention: one of my flist people I've "known" forever has a lot of original Sex shop t-shirts. her father was in a particular band (he's pictured on the back of one of my fave records), and her mother was a supermodel in the early 80s. next time she's online I need to start bugging her to send me some small jewelry stuff! what are friends for? ;)

Man, that's a nice hook up! See, I'm ghetto fabulous... and I would totally take advantage of bootleg VDub shit if it was available in my local Chinatown (assuming it didn't look like a 6 year old made it, of course). :D

haha, I just need to start really (ab)using all my friendships now! I was so blown away when she told me about her parents, since I happened to have almost all the stuff her dad's played on, and even her mom's CD... when she lived in Paris she used to buy all the Japanese tourists Louis Vuitton items for bonus money (something to do with the clerk making sure it would be recorded on their luxury VAT going back to Japan or something). those original Sex shirts sell for insane money at auction, but I know her dad would never sell-- something to do with street cred!

however, I'm ghettofab too... I have absolutely no problem wiht bootleg fash, except Louis Vuitton (I'm opposed to the color poo brown!).

I think LV stuff is generally uninspired (with the exception of the Murakami collabo stuff, but that shit is RIDIC expensive and all the fakes of it look really really fake).

I can totally see JP folks eating that shit up... I know there's an eBay seller that sells repo's of those Sex shirts and does pretty well for fakes.

He's been for awhile, I think. I love the clothes, but it's WAY above my budget.

And if you go to louisvuitton.com, click on Marc Jacobs, and check out the Fall/Winter 05 collection for pretty black coats and dresses. Oh my gosh, *fine* young men in F/W07! O.O

Okay, in my defense, I was just thinking of LV's purses... but wow, some of those designs you linked to are pretty sweet! It's just unfortunate that I'm 5" too short, 30lbs too big, and about $10,000 under budget to wear any of them!

But, you know, a girl can dream. ;D

Hahaha XD I'm right there with you. There really hasn't been anything where I've gone and said "OMG I HAVE TO PLAY DRESS UP." (And really, the only reason that I'm making Sgt Peppers is just because I want to make something that'll take me a long time to make and can have fun with.. since I probably wont be going to cons til July too. :P)

06 must just be a slooooooow cosplay year. Or actually.. I know what it is. PLC is dead and I've already made all the ones that grab my interest.. and really, that was all I was doing for the last two years. XD

We can be non-cosplay-geek geeks together. ;D

Cosplay is a hobby, no need to be doing it all the time, especially when the drive isn't there. If you don't feel like it, no need to worry. You'll either catch the fire again sometime, or not. I felt totally burned out after Comic-Con, and didn't make anything new until last month! (Except for a single grey kimono, but c'mon, that aint hardly nothin'.) Now I'm rarin' to go!

Last year around this time, there wasn't anything I really want ed to do, not really. But a few months later and I had a big ol' list. It comes in waves.

Also, you won't hear me complaining about corsets of boobitry.

Those uniform things will look hot on almost anyone when properly fitted.

Ooh, I wish I could get underpaid third-world lackeys to make some outfits for me! Cosplay without sewing, for the win!

And if you did retire you could have a revue just to yourself in which you could wear a dress with a lot of feathers and sing a song about yourself and how you will never really leave the troupe!

...cha cha cha.

XD

But I see what you mean about the costumes, none of them really scream Cheryll at me so I'm useless. But I think you make a kick ass Paine!
