On Vox: Let the madness and the music get to you...

Life ain't so bad at all...

I don't even know if I can express how I'm feeling right now about the passing of Michael Jackson. As someone that grew up listening to his music and other artists who were influenced by him, his work served as the background music to many of my memories. Regardless of what happened in his personal life, I hope that people remember him for his talent and his ability to unite people regardless of race, age or language through his music.

I will be tearing up a dance floor tonight in celebration of his life and I know I will not be the only one.

Rest In Peace, Michael Jackson!

Here here Cheryll, I couldn't agree more. I've had more arguments about him this morning that I care to count. It annoys me that some people completely ignore everything good about his career and inspiration, and focus on something that was never proved, never verified and more than likely based on nothing but lies and ways to extort money out of him.

I have no doubt in my mind that Michael's childhood was both a blessing and a curse on his long-term musical career which eventually affected whatever personal issues he had. However, I don't think anyone can deny the amazing effect he had on pop music as a whole and how no one thus far has topped some of the records he achieved in his lifetime.

I was out and about in San Francisco tonight and there was nothing but love for MJ at the three spots I was at. At the end of the night I was sharing a bench with a dude while the DJ threw on "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and he was literally on the brink of tears. A grown ass man. This is the power of music, people! The motherfucking Elvis of our generation has just left our realm and we will never see the likes of him again. Fuck all the haters that can't see past whatever drama the tabloids wanted to dig up... MJ had more talent in his pinky toe than many of us will ever have in our whole damn bodies.

LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP!

I'll drink to that!

Funnily enough I used the Elvis reference in a conversation this morning too!

I just can't believe he's dead.
He was really fucking awesome.
But I never got to be loud and proud about it because if you liked Michael Jackson that made you as weird as him.
But all I ever cared about was his music.
I hope he finally, finally, gets a break from all the bullshit he got in life.

Hey, I hope you made a dent on the dancefloor, and while it's still the 28th over there, another one for your b-day!

Hope you're livin' it up! Happy birthday!
