I haven't taken one of these in forever! Thankfully the folks Pika Pika were wise enough to take advantage of a large gathering of goobers who like to take goofy pictures at Fanime and brought down a couple of machines last weekend. I love purikura!

By the way, you should really get on over to [info]mognetcentral's LJ to see the photoshoot we did with her in our Le Chevalier D'Eon costumes.

For the past few days the neighbors have noticed that there have been quite a few random kids coming through the neighborhood. My Dad, being the upstanding citizen, actually called the cops on a few of them when he noticed that they were carrying alcohol and disappearing over a fence.

About 50 feet behind our house lies this huge ass water tank. When my older brother was a teenager, this was where he first got drunk with his friends and I never thought much of it ever since then.

Well, guess the cops found out that one of the reasons why we've suddenly gotten an influx of kids is because there's a 50 foot high mural of the late Vallejo emcee Mac Dre.

YADADIMEAN?!

So, of course my ass had to hop (okay, shut up, I used a ladder) our back fence to check it out myself. Little did I know that I'd be greeted by some dope ass graff work! Guess word of the Mac Dre mural just hit MySpace, so folks have been coming to check it out. Click the thumbnail for more goodness.

Edit: I just realized y'all probably think I live in the ghetto now. I can hear y'all saying, "Note to self: Do not visit her." HAHAHA

First off, to your right is a billboard I caught while walking out of the ampitheater last Sunday. This is for all my George R. R. Martin nerds. Sansa mp3 player, WHAT!

1. Purikura taken with my homie Anne Marie before headed out to see Dave Chappelle: It's easy!

2. Debuted a new costume at AOD last weekend, Karma Shenjing's bassist Yuu: This wig is ferocious!

3. One of my good friends had a press/photo pass for Rock the Bells, so he IM'd me the other day and was like, "Yo, I got pics of your man.": Mos Def-initely!

4. In case you're wondering what me and Anne Marie look like outside of washed out, bright ass purikura booths, this is us after sitting 7 hours in the sun at Rock the Bells: Hip Hop, and ya don't stop!

So I'm checking out Nana Kitade's stuff (one of the musical guests performing with MUCC at Otakon (I hate you guys) in a few days), and I see one of the tracks titled, "Moonlight Densetsu."

...

And I'm thinking... oh no she didn't.

Nah, she couldn't have...

Could she...?

Oh yes, yes she did. MY CHILDHOOD OF WATCHING SAILOR MOON RETURNS! And it's pretty funky! I think I am now determined to see her perform at the Virgin Megastore in SF on August 2nd just to see her sing this live. (And suppress the urge to sing along. LOL)

Nana Kitade - Moonlight Densetsu (I am a total nerd for posting this.)

Edit: Wait... wait! There's more!! She also covered the Rose of Versailles theme! (Hello, NERD FEST happening right... NOW.)
Nana Kitade - Bara wa Utsukushiku Chiru

And, in completely unrelated news, while cleaning my room the other day I found the badge to the first ever anime con I went to: Anime America in 1996. This con doesn't even exist anymore. My friend and I went specifically to go to the Dealer Room to buy Sailor Moon crap. I think I remember seeing one cosplayer.

In reference to my previous post: Me at 120 lbs. at Senior Prom, no less. Check out those A-cups! (Okay, don't, really.)

If you call my brother and sister-in-law's answering machine, you're greeted with recorded message by my niece Zoe (age 6). She does a good job rattling off the regulars... "We're not able to answer your call, please leave your name..." so on and so forth. My sister-in-law wanted both of her kids to contribute to the outgoing message, so after Zoe was done she got Ethan (age 3) to provide his contribution:

"I AM A COOKIE!"

Good job, man. :D

And, if you ask him what kind of cookie he is, he'll promptly respond with, "CHOCOLATE MINT!"

I call myself a photographer-by-luck, and I guess I just got really lucky today.

My niece had her 6th birthday party at a gymnastics/indoor rock climbing place with a dozen or so other kids. On top of being able to jump on these huge trampolines, they had a face painter and a balloon artist.

Here's Zoe showing off one of her gifts in front of her parents' big screen TV with the Superbowl on. I'm predicting Olympics in 2018. Holler!

I got a bunch of other really cool pics of the kids while they were running around and getting their faces painted. I'll post them tonight 'cause they are so freakin' cute.

Lestat uses a Mac. :D

My Mom "inherited" a friend's season pass to SF's theater shows so she treated me to a pre-Broadway showing of Lestat, Elton John's new number and Anne Rice's brainchild gone musical. (Ha cha cha cha chaaaa!) If you've read The Vampire Lestat then feel free to click on the cut to read my no-blood-barred semi-review.

I KNOW he didn't stick a tambourine in that song! )

I always figure that a sign that a musical was good is if I'm able to walk out of the theater with one of the melodies stuck in my head. After Cats it was "Memory," Les Miserables "One Day More" (or "Master of the House" LOL), Phantom of the Opera "Music of the Night," Rent "Seasons of Love." None of the music in Lestat grabbed me, in fact, I don't think I could hum any of the tunes if you asked. And trust me, I really really wanted to be able to walk out humming something.

Photo: Saw this while driving home today, I literally LOL'd.

Last night I picked up my parents at the airport after their month-long jaunt in the Motherland. On the way home, between stories of how much food they ate, my Dad asked me, "Did you eat yet?"

"Nope," I replied, realizing how hungry I was. (All those tales of Auntie Always' cooking can get to a girl.)

"I want a hamburger," my Dad said.

"Yeaaaaah," piped up my Mom. You could literally hear the drool starting up in my parents' mouths as this exchange took place.

So my parents' first meal of the year in the United States? Carl's Jr., baby. Carl's Mothereffin' Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger Jr.

Yes, that picture has nothing to do with this entry. But, it's Exoticism Iced Bronze Rare Tanning Oil! C'mon, how could I not take a picture and show you guys?

Seriously, I hardly recognize myself Eye Shadow Beige + Beige + ORAAANGE! The Usual Suspects

Thanks to [info]ziggybecket for coming all the way out to hang and take pictures of strangers! We were all "hair models" for a Pravana hair show sponsored by the place I work at. The theme of the show was "Elements of Style" where they were teaching stylists how to read their clients based on the four elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire. Based on their personalities you could accurately create a style for them that they would like. I was Fire (which meant I was the crazy one that liked change and was open to new stuff).

I think I have three different hair dyes on my head. They were originally going to add magenta highlights along with the orange, but when my base color (a copper) didn't pop as much as they wanted they decided to nix the magenta, bleach out more parts of my hair and add orange to my entire head. Hence the color. :D

Anyone need a Fruits Basket Kyo cosplayer? LOL

I love the convenience and randomness that can occur with having a cameraphone, but damn my shit sucks.

But anyway... here's an idea of my hair! You can't tell, but the front part is bright fruit section in your supermarket orange. The rest of it is a kind of coppery...uhh... copper. Yeah.

[info]ziggybecket (FUUUUU!) has better photos (including some ridiculous purikura we took Saturday night after inhaling some okonomiyaki in Japantown), so stay tuned!

Edit: I color corrected the photo so it looks closer to what it really is. For reference, the jacket I'm wearing is a really deep maroon color, so obviously my cameraphone just sucks. :)

I've decide that if I could be any celebrity it would be Rachel Ray. The woman gets paid to travel and eat, meet celebrities and eat, talk and eat, etc. I've also determined that my girls and I no longer make plans to hit up the clubs, drink our brains out, etc... instead we now make plans to... you guessed it... eat.

Participated in SF's Dine About Town tonight at Crustacean. (All you AOD nerds may know it as the restaurant around the corner of the hotel with the neon crab outside of it.) Every January, participating restaurants in SF create fixed price 3-course lunch and/or dinner menus. Lunch is set at $21.95 and dinner at $31.95, which is way cheaper than what you would normally spend for a 3-course meal otherwise.

Crustacean's fixed menu was as follows (I bolded the ones I got):
First Course
Shrimp & Green Mango Roll or
Skewered Chicken with Asian pickled Vegetables or
Mixed Greens with Candied Walnuts

Second Course
Shaken Beef with Jasmine Steam Rice or
Prawn Stir Fry with An's Garlic Noodles

Third Course
Fried Banana a la mode or
Orange Cream Sorbet

An's (the owner) Garlic Noodles are OFF THE BRA STRAPS. You all should be glad that your monitors don't have Smell-O-Vision 'cause hoooo boy, am I rockin' the garlic! We also tried their crab puffs and papaya salad... mmm, mmm GOOD. Service was a little on the slow side (more time for cracking jokes), but other than that the food was great.

Between the four of us, on top of drinks, coffee and two extra appetizers on top of the fixed menu, total damage was $190. Not bad for 14 dishes! (Holy shit, we had 14 dishes.)

I need to go pass out now in hopes that the 1,000lbs of food I just consumed will magically disappear in the morning.

After work I hit up the local Asian (read: Filipino) supermarket. Next to the place where I buy the goodness like Adobo Bread and Ube-filled Pan De Sal (my mouth waters just TYPING this shit) is a joint that sells custom barongs and traditional Filipino threads.

This beauty was in the window.

HOLYOMGWTFBBQ?!

On the left is the men's Barong Tagalog, embroidered and dyed to OH HELL NO proportions. Now, I've seen my share of retarded Barongs (the ones with fighting chickens comes to mind), but man someone must've had a Genius Moment when they decided that their childhood Bahay Kubo had to be embroidered on their chest. Then figured that artfully representing the sky through TIE DYE would add that certain I-don't-know-what to it.

SNAKES ON A PLANE!*

*I'm going to use this phrase from now on for anything that makes no mothereffin' sense whatsoever. Much like that Barong.

Back when I was in high school, the thing to do with your friends was hit up the local photo studio, get matching outfits and take pictures.

My girls and I had a high school like sleepover this weekend where we played a bunch of Guitar Hero, ordered pizza, drank mojitos, dressed them up in my costumes (see previous post), rented a movie and took studios! We are dorks. Yes.

[info]jb006ie made us all custom sweatshirts, so we decided to rock those in the photos.

Top L-R: Anne Marie whose sweatshirt says "San Diego 619"
me (duh) with one that says "Represent"
Bottom L-R: [info]jb006ie with "Soled Out"
Melanie with "Sprinkle Me 707"

Thanks to my uber vision plan at work I have acquired a pair of emo-esque Calvin Klein glasses. I haven't worn glasses on a regular basis since I was 13, but I dig these suckers so much I may have to take it up again!

My prescription increased signifcantly since the last time I got checked (like 3+ years ago o_O), so I can officially say that I can now see the future with these.

I think I'll go study Physics or listen to some Dashboard Confessional now.

Anne Marie and I right after the ball dropped into 2006. That's my "diabolical planning for 2006" face. Surprisingly you can't tell how freakin' sweaty we were at the time! (It felt like it was about 90 degrees in the basement of the club.)

I just bought an Algonquins fukubukuro (lucky bag) off of Y! Japan. >< I think this hot pink, leopard fur print number is included (which I'm totally diggin', if you can believe it). This is me trying to add variety to my styles of dress (assuming that the shit even fits me), and if it doesn't work... hopefully I can make 5x what I spent on the bag by throwing all the pieces on eBay.

Okay, I'll stop bothering your friend's list now.
